Hydroisol-ITH Crystal Producing Concrete Waterproofing Mortar

HYDROISOL-ITH® is a concrete waterproofing material that produces crystals by penetrating 90 cm deep into the concrete after it is applied to the concrete surface.
It contains Portland cement, very finely processed sand and special active chemicals.

The active chemicals in its content penetrate deeply into the surface and react to moisture and hardened concrete components and enter into a catalytic reaction.

This reaction creates insoluble crystal formation in both the cavities and capillary channels and cracks of the concrete, making the concrete progressively impermeable to water permanently.
It does not allow water and other chemical liquids to leak from any direction (negative + positive), even under 14 Bar high hydrostatic pressure. It provides active waterproofing throughout the life of the concrete and repairs the concrete.

Purpose of usage

When the HYDROISOL-ITH® coating is applied, chemicals in the form of aqueous solutions seep through the gaps to the bottom of the concrete. Reactions involving concrete components take place in the cavity. Thanks to the chemical reaction, water-insoluble needle-headed hydrate crystals are formed and fill the gaps, fine cracks and holes on the concrete.

The crystal formation process continues only when it is in further contact with water until the cavities are completely closed. In this way, a strong and durable interlocking crystal network is formed.

As a result, water proofing is ensured by preventing the penetration of water into the concrete.

Technical Features and Advantages

  • It is resistant to 14 Bar high hydrostatic pressure. It does not lose its waterproofing properties under high hydrostatic pressure.
  • It closes hairline cracks and capillary gaps up to 0.4 – 0.5mm in concrete. Complete insulation is provided after these cracks are closed with crystal.
  • In case of mechanical damage or any other reason water enters the concrete, it heals the concrete by self-repairing by producing crystals again.
  • It provides diffusion transition property in the concretes it is applied to. Thanks to this feature, the moisture in the concrete evaporates between the crystal cavities and allows the wall to dry.
  • It eliminates the disadvantages of superficial insulation materials by using instead of cover type materials.
  • Freezing of concrete is prevented and tensile strength increases.
  • It integrates with the concrete it is applied to.
  • Prevents water leaks in cold joints
  • It protects the iron in concrete from corrosion.
  • It is non-toxic and can be used in drinking water tanks and facilities.
  • It can be applied to the concrete surface both positively and negatively. Even the most difficult sub-ceiling aspect can be applied.
  • It allows the concrete to breathe.
  • It is resistant to aggressive chemicals (pH= 3 -14). It prevents the formation of ettringite in concrete.
  • Before the application, the floor must be dry
  • It is not affected by the damage and impact of the concrete structure.
  • It does not require cost-increasing priming or correction on the surface before application.
  • It does not require sealing, finishing or finishing the entire surface at corner and edge joints or between cladding.
  • It can be applied to previously treated or new concretes.
  • It does not require infill or shielding in the insertion of steel, mesh wire or other materials.
  • It is reactive in its current state, it becomes active every time it comes into contact with water.
  • Containing concrete from sea water, waste water, oil, etc. Protects from chemicals such as
  • Its application is less costly than other methods.
  • There is no deterioration in the crystal structure. It is permanent and permanent.
  • It minimizes cracks and shrinkage in concrete.

Operating Instructions

  • Concrete Surface Preparation:

Concrete surface before application; Remove lime, paint, dust, tiles, cement mortar, dirt, oil, etc., with a high-pressure water jet, wet blasting or wire brush. must be cleared of substances. Cracked and porous concrete should be excavated until it reaches mechanically sound concrete, and weak layers should be removed from the concrete block.

For crystal formation, surfaces and pores must be cleaned of dust and pre-wetted with clean water. Large gaps, cracks and pores should be filled with concrete mortar or repair mortars.

In order for the material to penetrate deeply into the concrete, the capillary pores must be open and moistened.

  • Humidification of Concrete Surfaces:

Before the “HYDROISOL-ITH” application, the concrete surfaces should be wetted with clean water in order to help the application to cure and to ensure the formation of crystals deep into the pores of the concrete. Dirty and waste water on the surface should be cleaned before application. All concrete must be wetted. A moist but not wet concrete should be obtained.

  • To mix up:

Clean mains water is added until “HYDROISOL-ITH” reaches the consistency of boza and mixed until it reaches a homogeneous consistency. Mixing should be done with a paint mixer at a low speed. The resulting mixture should be used within 20-30 minutes. Keep mixing constantly as you apply. If the mixture starts to harden, add a little water and continue mixing.

  • Mixing ratio for brush application:

1:2 for vertical surfaces (1 part of water will be added to 2 parts of HYDROISOL-ITH® and mixed).

For horizontal surface 1:3 (1 measure of water will be added to 3 measures of HYDROISOL-ITH® and mixed).

  • Mixing ratio for spray application:

The mixing ratio of water and HYDROISOL-ITH® is 3:5 by weight (5 parts of HYDROISOL-ITH® to 3 parts of water to be added and mixed).

Application

HYDROISOL-ITH® is applied with a nylon bristle wall brush or sprayer. For horizontal and vertical surfaces, after the first layer of HYDROISOL-ITH® has been applied, the second layer should be applied the same day while the concrete surface is still fresh.

  • Application Conditions:

“HYDROISOL-ITH” can be applied at air temperatures between +5°C and +35°C. Working in direct sunlight, rain or strong wind should be avoided.
It is applied only to a damp concrete surface. For horizontal and vertical surfaces, after the first layer of HYDROISOL-ITH® has been applied, the second layer should be applied the same day while the concrete surface is still fresh.

  • What to do after the application:

Surfaces coated with HYDROISOL-ITH® should be kept moist for 3-4 days. Surfaces are moistened with manual / electric tools or by spraying mains water. When using a high pressure water jet, the spray should be done from a distance to avoid damage to the applied surface coating. If necessary, the surface is covered with a polyethylene film in the humidification process. The mechanical stress of the concrete should be taken by keeping it constantly moist. It should be protected from direct sunlight, wind and frost.

  • Post Application Usage:

It is recommended to clean at the latest 1 week after the application. The holding time can be reduced or increased up to the maximum allowable moisture content of the concrete, depending on the particular type of coating and the air temperature.

  • Warning !

Surfaces coated with HYDROISOL-ITH® should be kept moist for 3-4 days. Surfaces are moistened with manual / electric tools or by spraying mains water. When using a high pressure water jet, spraying should be done from a suitable distance to avoid damage to the applied surface coating. If necessary, the surface is covered with a polyethylene film in the humidification process.

It should be protected from direct sunlight, wind and frost. “HYDROISOL-ITH” cannot be used as an additive for concrete or plasters. Do not apply HYDROISOL-ITH at freezing temperature or on frozen or freezing surfaces.

After the application is finished, the mechanical equipment should be cleaned of uncured compound immediately after use with tap water. After hardening, the “HYDROISOL-ITH” composition can only be removed mechanically.
